George Lavern Harmon of Jackson, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025 at the age of 78 years.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Sheila; his son, Josh (Sarah) Harmon; step-son, Joe (Tammy) Berry, step-son, John (Sue) Berry; grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla, Katey, Kimberly, Kyle, Austin, Jocie, Presley and Lincoln.; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Vivian and Maisie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie; sister Rose; and brother, Kenneth.

George was born on December 25th, 1946 in Jackson, Michigan. He attended Northwest and Jackson High Schools. Sargeant Harmon did a tour of duty in Vietnam serving his country earning many service medals.

George had a talent and love for autos that began at a young age. He suped up sport cars, boats and off road vehicles and took pride in each one making them a top notch machine. He carried his automotive expertise to his business which he started in 1976, George's Service Center. From a filling station and automotive center, to his wrecker business, he served Jackson County for nearly 50 years.

A Funeral Service for George will be held at the Desnoyer Funeral Home, 204 North Blackstone Street, Jackson, Michigan on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Disabled American Veterans.
