Genevieve M. Vannest
of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Peter. She is survived by three children, John Vannest of Florida, Phillip (Nancy) Vannest of Jackson and Cheryl (Tim) Murine of Jackson. She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Gerald. Genevieve is also survived by nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Irene Vannest of Florida and Lynette Vannest of Jackson; six siblings, Lucille (Tony) Janiak, Dorothy (Corey) Brautiguan, JoAnne (John) Sposito, Carol (Alvin) Cheesbro, Arthur (Donna) Hinkle and Norman (Barbara) Hinkle; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Malewitz, Florence Louagie and Geraldine Young; four brothers, Robert, Donald, James and Richard Hinkle. Genevieve retired from Montgomery-Ward after many years of service and was a member of Debs & Dames.

Mrs. Vannest is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Father James Shaver will be the celebrant at the Mass. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Scripture Service at 6:00 PM.
