Genevieve J. Cronkhite (Klavon) of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 age 93 years. She is survived by three children, Catherine (Dennis) La Forest, Susan (Kim) Richardson and David (Traci) Cronkhite; seven grandchildren, Lisa, Teri, Jennifer, Katie, Sara, Kyle and Riann Traci; great grandchildren, Austin, Gunner, Aiden, Taylor, Ryan, and Audrey; great great grandson, Liam; sister, Eleanor Bucrek, Deloris Jahnke and Donna Simmons; sister in law, Sylvia Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Earl “Bob”; her daughter, Linda; sister, Ramona Flippo; and brother, Theodore Klavon.
She was an avid artist and Past President of the Statesville, North Carolina Artist Guild. Geni was a warm and loving presence whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She carried herself with quiet strength and unwavering grace, deeply cherished by her family and all who shared in her life. Her love for the outdoors was evident-whether tending to her gardens or relaxing on the porch, enjoying quiet moments and conversations with family and friends. She had a deep affection for nature and her pets, finding comfort, companionship, and joy in the world around her and the animals she lovingly cared for.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 11:30 AM with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, August 17 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Dementia Society of America, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Cascades Humane Society of Jackson.
