Gifford, Gary B. Jr.
Of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away at his home under the loving care of his family on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Doreen; six children, Aaron Gifford (Nikki), Adam (Audrey) Gifford, Andrea Gifford, Erica (Casey) Nicks, Brandon (Amanda) Cadreau, and Justin(Angela) Cadreau; 14 grandchildren, Evelyn, Owen, Janelle, Liana, Avery, Hannah, Morgan, Elijah, Adrin, Konnor, Candin, Alexander, Mariah, and Brayden; and 4 great-grandchildren, Bryan, Odin, Skyler, and Callie. Brother "Bruce" is also survived by his 8 brothers, and sisters, Anne (Thomas) Holewa, Eric (Laura), Karen (Ron) Markiw, Colin, Constance (Tomi) Sawyer, Amy Collard (Jim), Ian (Sara) and Nathan (Katie); sister-in-law, Theresa Gifford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary Sr. and Jean Gifford and brother, Shawn.
Gary was a devoted Police Officer for 33 years for the City of Ann Arbor. He was also a devoted and active Catholic and sung in the choir. Gary enjoyed vacationing at Lake Michigan, boating, coaching, teaching children to read, and was a graduate of Michigan State University and an avid Spartan Fan. Gary's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends and contributed to many charities.
Mr. Gifford is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2025 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Father Tyler Arens officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 6 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.
Instead of sending flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
