Walewski, Frank and Vivian
Vivian, age 77, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2015 when she died peacefully in her sleep. Frank, age 80, joined her in peaceful passing 9 days later on March 3, 2015 in the loving care of family, close friends, and the staff at Bethany Hospice. They were lifelong companions who married in Jackson on September 21st, 1957.
Vivian was the daughter of Floyd and Bessie (Ballentine) Merillat. She retired from AAA after many years of dedicated service. Vivian enjoyed being active in numerous clubs and organizations such as the Red Hat Society of Jackson, Jackson Women's Garden Association, and was an active member of Queen's Church. She was fond of painting and crafts and enjoyed researching her family's genealogy.
Frank was the son of Walter and Helen (Bogdanska) Walewski. Frank was a US Airforce Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Frank retired from Kelsey Hayes where he worked for 40 years.
Frank and Vivian loved their dog Zin. They enjoyed spending time celebrating with family and friends on the lake, believed in serving others, and cherished their time together. Vivian and Frank are survived by Vivian's brothers, Carl (Dorothy) and Stuart (Carol) Merillat of Elk Rapids, Frank's brother Karl (Margie) Walewski, and numerous nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by Vivian's parents, Vivian's sisters, Grace (Clayton) Allen, Caroline (Bion) Gassman, Mytle (Carroll) Busey, Violet "Judy" Merillot; Vivian's brothers, Estle (Viviann), Donald (Harriett), Earl (Roberta), Walter (Alzora), Floyd Jr. (Marcia) Merillat; Frank's parents, Frank's sisters Lottie (Stephen) Podayko, Sophie (Edward) Chmielewski, and Valerie (Joe) Szczygiel.
According to their wishes, Frank and Vivian have been cremated. Vivian's funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, February 25th, at the Bethany Care Home Chapel in Jackson. A graveside service at the South Milton Township Cemetery, Rapid City, MI will be held at a date to be determined. Frank's Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Queen of The Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Saturday, March 21st, at 11:00 AM with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Care Home, Queens of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Chhurch, Great Lakes Hospice, or the organization of your choice in Frank and Vivian's memory.
