Frank Michael Lusebrink of Jackson, Michigan passed away on October 4, 2025, due to pancreatic cancer. He lived an active 89 years and spent his final day surrounded by family and loved ones.
Frank was born on July 27, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan to Jennie and Michael Lusebrink. Frank's father passed when he was 6 years old. He spent his summers with his Finnish relatives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There are many colorful stories of his adventures in Trout Creek and Dafter with his cousins and friends.
Frank had a lifelong passion for golf that began when he worked as a caddie during high school. He had the best practice swing in golf and achieved 9 hole-in-ones throughout his life, the first of which won him a brand-new car. He loved the friendships he made on the course, and he was the best playing partner you could have.
Frank served as a Military Police Officer in the US Army between the Korean and Vietnam wars. His unit was tasked with turning the Orange Bowl in Miami into a stockade during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Unsurprisingly, he also had many stories about playing golf in the Army.
Frank attended Wayne State University and earned a degree in accounting. While at Wayne State he developed a love of jazz and was often seen frequenting and playing the piano at many of the jazz clubs and coffeehouses in Detroit. He even had a regular gig as Lily Tomlin's accompanist.
After graduating, Frank started a career as a Certified Public Accountant with Ernst & Ernst and then eventually founded his own firm, which he later merged with the Rehmann Group. He helped clients for almost 60 years in his chosen profession. He possessed a brilliant mind and a calm demeanor and prided himself on creative solutions to difficult problems. Many of his clients became life-long friends.
Frank met his wife Angeline (Angie) at a dance in downtown Detroit in 1963. They were married in May of 1965. This past May marked their 60th anniversary. They moved from Detroit to Jackson in 1967. Over the years they enjoyed a wonderful circle of friends in Jackson and Bonita Springs, Florida. They spent time with family, traveling, playing cards, going to movies, and sharing meals together.
Frank is survived by his wife, Angie; son, Frank Jr (Julie Haynes); and grandchildren, Mary Lusebrink (Doug Smith) and Michael Lusebrink.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
In lieu of sending flowers, contributions in Frank's name to Henry Ford Hospice Home or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
