Jackson, MI Age 81, passed away October 20, 2013 at Bethany Hospice in Jackson, MI. He was born April 30, 1932 in Montclair NJ, the son of Rose (Burgess) and Francis B. Hastings Sr. Frank was a graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Orange VA, and graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY where he attained membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Society. In 1953 Frank was commissioned into the United States Navy as an Ensign. He served aboard the USS Pittsburgh and USS Lexington during the Korean War, and received the National Defense Medal, the China Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. Frank held fond memories of his travels around the world while in the Navy and garnered a collection of Asian art while in Japan. He ended his active duty career as the 3rd Division Officer aboard the USS Lexington in 1957.
On November 28, 1959 he married Joan L. Turner of Rhode Island. In 1961, they moved to Shaker Heights, Ohio where Frank had a long, successful career working as an investment banker, first as an employee of the First Boston Corporation, then later for National City Bank and Shearson Lehman Brothers.

Frank was a longtime active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Jackson, Michigan. Frank also had a lifelong passion for family history and spent decades researching and writing on many genealogical topics. The treasure trove of papers he researched and wrote, and the family records, photos and letters he collected and collated are a living gift to all his family and will be utilized and cherished for generations to come.

Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years and three children: Thomas B. Hastings of Miles City MT, Nancy T. Hastings of Littleton CO, and William B. Hastings of Jackson MI. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anne Hallett of Chicago, IL and Roberta Turner of Miami, FL.

A memorial service will be held Monday, October 28th at 11 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 309 S. Jackson St., Jackson, MI 49201. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be sent to Bethany Hospice, 1000 E. Porter St, Jackson, MI 49202.
