Shutler (Robinson), Frances Mary
Of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the age of 79. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Michael Shutler; children, Smith and Teresa (Shutler) Patterson, Michael and Ann Shutler, Jr, Jeff and Barbara (Shutler) Kunkel; grandchildren, Sarah Richardson, Samantha and Taylor Gates, Ande Shutler, Sally Patterson and Carter Shutler; great grandchildren, Edison Gates, Joshua Gates and Abigail Gates; and siblings, Joan Caspar, Sandra Phelps and Sharon Harness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Marie Robinson; brothers, Bert Kempker, Dan Kempker, and Rich Kempker; and her grandson, Joshua Richardson.
Fran was born on August 25, 1944 in Saugatuck, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan Center High School and attended Western Michigan University but completed her BS at Eastern Michigan University in Social Work several years later. Fran was the beloved bride to Michael Shutler for 59 years. She was a member of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the alter society, a volunteer for Challenger League Baseball through Little League, active in the Council on Aging, and an active member of the Women's Life Insurance Society and worked the fund-raising dinners. She attended as many of her children's and grandchildren's events that she could.
Fran loved to sew and do puzzles (jigsaw, crossword, word search and sudoku). She was a person of faith and dedicated her life both personally and professionally to bettering peoples lives. Anyone and everyone was welcome in her home, and it was expected that they would help themselves to a snack or beverage before sitting down. Fran made the world a better place through her kind heart and giving nature. We always asked for her strawberry jello and pumpkin pie. Whenever you left the house she told you to "play nice".
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
