Smith, Frances Patricia (Pat)

Patricia passed away on Sunday, September 27th, 2015 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary Brannick and her husband of 55 years, James J. Smith. Patricia was born January 13th, 1925 in Jackson, MI. She was a graduate of St. John's School and Western Michigan University. She is survived by her sister, Sr. George Ellen Brannick, IHM of Monroe, MI and her five children: Michael (Margaret) of Grand Rapids, MI; Julie (Roger Stevens) of Chicago, IL; Thomas (Sherrie Gauley) of Chicago, IL; Gary of Grand Rapids, MI; and Mary Ann (Craig) Rumler of Brighton, MI. Pat was a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren and a treasured aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Pat worked for many years as the librarian at Jackson Catholic Middle School. She was also a religious education teacher for special needs students. She was a devoted member of St. John's Parish for over 80 years where she was both baptized and married. Pat was an avid golfer, reader, and traveler. Most of all Pat loved spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Smith is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Kurian Kollapallil and Father James Shaver as the celebrants.

The family will receive friends at Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday, October 2nd from 4 to 7:30 PM.

The family suggests that, instead of sending flowers, please consider a memorial donation to St. John Catholic Church or the Jackson Interfaith Shelter.
