Larrowe (Glinicki), Florence C.
of Jackson, passed away under the loving care of her family and the staff of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the age of 99 years. She is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Donald) Skyles; five grandchildren, Stephanie (C.J.) Sargent, Donald (Elizabeth) Skyles Jr., Tyler Skyles, Isabella Skyles, and Richard Skyles; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Harlie, and Harmer Sargent and Kaiden and Kaleb Skyles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Vernon and four sisters.
Florence began her nursing career as a Red Cross Volunteer Aide in Jackson. She went on to get her R.N. certificate at Mercy Hospital in Jackson after which she worked as a staff nurse, private duty nurse, and head nurse in a general hospital. Following this experience, she went to work in a private psychiatric hospital for eight years. During this period she attended the University of Detroit, receiving a Baccalaureate Degree with a Major in Psychology. She received her Master of Science degree in Nursing Education, with Psychiatric Nursing as a Major, from Indiana University. She taught psychiatric nursing in a collegiate degree program in Kentucky at Nazareth College.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with her nephew, The Most Rev. Donald F. Hanchon, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
