Rice (Schelling), Evelyn M.

Age 77 of Jackson passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 25, 1944, to Ernest and Wilma Schelling. She graduated from St. Mary's School in 1962, and from Elkhart Dental School in 1963, as a dental assistant. Evelyn married the love of her life, Lloyd Rice, on May 1, 1965.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lloyd; children, Heidi Ahlbaum, James (Stacey) Rice, and Lyle (Janet) Rice; sister, Marilyn (Larry) Cook; grandchildren, Kimberly Morgan, Brian (Gabriella) Rice, Kenneth (Jennifer) Ahlbaum Jr., Blake Ahlbaum, Brandon Ahlbaum, Matthew (Alexis) Ahlbaum, Mark Ahlbaum, Emily Albaum, Luke Ahlbaum, Jacob Rice, and Hailey Rice; 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Renne Rice-Richards, granddaughter, Becky Rice, and son-in-law Ronald Richards.

Evelyn is at Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Father Tim Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with the Rosary Service at 7:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Mary's Stained-Glass Fund, St. Mary's Church, or Elara Caring Hospice would be appreciated.
