Hankerd, Evelyn L.

of Jackson, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold. She is survived by four children, Anne (David) Shaw, Michael (Linda) Hankerd, Donna (Jim) Bush and Pat Hankerd; 6 grandchildren, Kristie Shaw, Sonny Shaw, Jasmeen Hankerd, Jason Hankerd, Steven Bush and Michael Bush; 2 great grandchildren, Charlotte and Will Shaw; one brother, George Noon.

Evelyn started her working career at Mercy Hospital in Jackson as an x-ray technician. She later transitioned to Foote Hospital in the laboratory as a medical secretary and laboratory clerk where she continued to work for 33 years. Evelyn was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church. She was active in the Altar Society, Franciscan Order, and other church activities. Evelyn enjoyed traveling to Colorado and Florida during the winter months to visit family. Being raised on a farm she had a lifelong love of animals and enjoyed the company of her dogs and cats.

Evelyn is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 12:30 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 1:00 PM with Msgr. Bernard Reilly as the Celebrant. A private interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday, March 1 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM.
