Esther Swinney Frederick, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2019 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents Stuart and Violet Martha Swinney and by her beloved husband Bill. She is survived by her sister, Beulah; her children Paul Frederick (Andrea); John Frederick (Lee Ann); Linda Churchill (Brian); 6 grandchildren: Ryan Frederick (Carrie); Erica Frederick; Marc Frederick; Kevin Churchill (Alyssa); Danny Churchill (Lynden); Sean Churchill and 4 great grandchildren.

Born on May 24, 1923 Esther was raised with one younger sister in a loving and religious family in Cincinnati, Ohio. Esther received her bachelor's degree from Wooster College and continued her education at Case Western Reserve University where she earned a master's degree in Social Work. She met her husband, Bill, at a young singles group at the Church of the Covenant in Cleveland, Ohio and married soon after. Esther and Bill started their family in Minneapolis, MN, moved to Sioux Falls, SD and eventually settled with their three children in beautiful Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Esther was very active in the Federated Church of Chagrin Falls, where she participated in several women's groups and wrote for the church newsletter. Always devoted to the needs of others, Esther often volunteered her help whenever needed, be it as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts or as a Girl Scout leader or to make deliveries for Meals on Wheels. Her generosity of time and spirit was endless. Esther enjoyed many kinds of music. She particularly loved traveling to Wooster, Ohio with Bill and dear friends Dottie and Don Berlincourt to see the Ohio Light Opera productions of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas. Esther also loved reading and traveling, with the Canadian Rockies being one of her favorite travel destinations. Esther's warm sense of humor and loving, generous and accepting personality will live on in the lives of all of the people she touched throughout her long life.

Special thanks go to Esther's kind caregivers at the Vista Grande Villa Health Center and Southern Care Hospice of Jackson, Michigan for treating her with respect and dignity during the last few years of her life.

A private family service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
