Ervin "Erv" R. Liechti
age 87, of Jackson passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 15 with his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn, at his side following a brief illness. He is survived by his son Gordon and wife Kelly (Ryan) Liechti of Traverse City, four grandchildren, Sean Liechti, Danielle Liechti, Michael Brooks and Michele Kohlhofer; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert J. Liechti; two nieces, Sue Hardash and Sandy Rogers; one grandniece, Ashley Fall. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carin.
Erv was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and worked for Cochran Electric for over 30 years making many friends wherever he went. Erv was a private man with a witty sense of humor, the son of Swiss/German parents that held strong devotion to family and their faith. Fulfilling one of his lifelong passions, with his wife Carolyn, together they ventured out West to California landing his dream job as an Industrial Electrical Engineer at the USMC air station, El Toro, CA until his retirement.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Rd., Jackson, MI, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael A. Geml officiating. Military honors will be handled under the direction of the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Erv's name to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School.
The family would like to thank several aides from Arbor North Semi Assisted Living with a special thanks to Nicki and several ladies from the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
