Denton (Wiles), Erna Louise

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at her home in Spring Arbor, Michigan with her family by her side. She was born January 5, 1937 the daughter of Ernest Wiles and Elsie (Albert) Nastally. She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Tim (Nancy) Denton, Rick (Sue) Denton, Greg (Linda) Denton, Michelle (Tim) Sanders, grandchildren; Travis Denton (Jill), Chad Denton, Andy Denton, Brenna Denton, Grant Denton, Pete (Kristy) Denton, Jeff (Monica) Denton, Gregory (Erica) Denton, Logan Denton, Amanda Sanders (Cougar), Abbey Sanders (Mark), 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat Brownrigg, Al (Myrna) Nastally, Dick Nastally, and Bob (Peggy) Nastally, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friend since childhood, Joanne Karazim. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2000, grandson Brock in 1986, great-grandson Jaxon in 2016, parents Ernest Wiles and Elsie (Albert) Nastally, siblings; Leroy Wiles, Eleanor Wiles and Stanley Nastally.

She was the fourth eldest of eight children. She married Roy Denton on December 5, 1953. She loved her pets and enjoyed collecting antiques and beanie babies. She enjoyed gardening and earned a certificate of completion of Master Gardener Program in 1979. In May, 1988 she proudly received a Dale Carnegie Course Certificate of Appreciation Award with her son, Tim. Erna worked hard all her life at Mechanical Products from '62-'70, Kelsey-Hayes from '69-'74, the 1052 Bar from '76-'78, and Denton's Den, which she and Roy bought together in 1981. She was a life-long parishioner of St. Stanislaus and St. Joseph Church. Erna was a very caring and giving person and always thought of others before herself. Many times she would throw huge pool parties and family reunions at her home for everyone to enjoy. Her grandchildren were the light of her life! She loved to travel, gamble, and spend time with her family and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Fr. James Shaver officiating. Attendance is limited to 100 persons and a mask and social distancing is required. Private interment will follow at Roseland Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from noon until 1:00 PM.
