McGowan, Emma Jean Wyant Tebeau
Of Jackson , MI passed Tuesday, November 3, 2009, the way she lived, surrounded by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. At 86 years, she had been in decline for several months, before dying of old age. She knew exactly what was happening, she accepted it. She was at peace and ready. It was a beautiful passing. She did take the Amtrak to Chicago for an extended weekend on October 17, of museums, shopping, dining and going to the opera to see the Faust legend by Gounod and Berlioz. Jean was the third child of eight children of Ira Aloysius and Emma Browne Wyant. Born in Muskegon , MI , she spent her youth living in Interlaken , North Muskegon , where Bear Lake , Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan come together. She married Blair Mc Gowan, in April of 1946, immediately after he returned from Germany after WWII. They had twelve children and raised thirteen, including John Levings. After Blair died in 1984, she married Wes Tebeau, with whom she lived in Muskegon . Jean was very social. She taught her children to enjoy life vigorously. She was a devoted Catholic. Felt that taking communion to shut-ins was an eye-opening experience, which she valued greatly. She volunteered for years at the Library, reading stories to children. After loving little ones, she cherished classical music, art and education. She is survived by her sisters Jodie Wyant Franche ( Boca Raton ) and Jane Wyant Clover ( North Muskegon ), and her brother Bruce Jerome Wyant ( Bakersfield , CA ). Jean raised 13 children, and is the mother (grandmother) of Joan (Dan) Coggin (Charlotte, NC) (Matthew Patrick Stark), Blair Jude (Kay) (Grosse Ile, MI) (Thomas S and Patrick Campbell, Kathleen Grace, Daniel Charles, Michael Diego), Mark (Ann) (West Bloomfield, MI) (Sarah Ann, Mark Patrick, Leah Mary, David Michael, Benjamin Joseph), James Wyant (Sitka, AK) (Gavin Wyant, Kevin Patrick), Michael John (Jackson), Mary Jo (Don) Huff (Jackson) (Donald Glenn III, Frances Mary, Gregory Martin, Stuart Gordon, Blair Browne, Ira Edward, Carlton Jude, Gabriel Peter), Emma Catherine (William) Zuzelski (Loveland, CO) (Nicholas Peter, William Alexander, Emma Johanna), John Levings, nephew (Grand Rapids), Peter Joseph (Wendy) (St. Louis, MO) (Emma Louise, Caroline Lee, Meghan Wyant, Lauren Elizabeth), Margaret Grace (Bryan) Mock (Cincinnati, OH) (Joseph Reuben, Elijah Paul), Paul (Kim) (Jackson) (Maxwell Paul, Grace Marie, Ellen Mary), Jean Louise (Ken) Escudero (Kingsville, TX) (Kayleigh Marie, Kenneth Martin, Lindsey Jean), Bruce Edward (Heidi) (Midway, UT) (Stella Jean, Ruby Van).
