Zakrzewski (Zaski) (Jackson), Ellen Alice
Of Jackson, Michigan, passed away comfortably at Arbor North Semi-Assisted Living, Apt 509 on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at the age 105. Ellen was born to George W and Edna L (Weaver) Jackson on December 4, 1919. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 47 years, Edward Joseph Zakrzewski in 1990; her son Edward Joseph Zaske in 2020; bothers Russell, Richard, Raymond, Eugene, and Louis; sisters Mildred, Georgia, Frances, and Marjorie.
Ellen is survived by her daughter Linda Faber (Richard) of Jackson, MI, and her daughter-in-law Margarita Gonzalez Zaske of Goleta, CA; grandchildren Scott C Sharrar (Terri) of Hastings, MI and Lisa M LaRose (Ryan) of Adrian, MI; step-grandchildren, Mary Varese (Mike) of Elgin, IL, Jeff Faber (Dixie) of Freeport, FL, Jenise Begola (Jason) of Eastpointe, MI, Daniel and Javier Arana Gonzalez of CA; her great-grandsons Reilly LaRose (Julia), Christopher, Braden, and Dayne Sharrar; great-granddaughter Anna LaRose; step-great-grandsons, Brendan and Darren Dolata; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ellen graduated from Parma High School in 1938 where she earned her letter P playing women's basketball. She met Edward at a dance hall in Pulaski, MI, and married him on October 9, 1943 in Banning, CA during his leave from WWII. Ellen worked for the Public School System and retired as a Head Baker in 1983. Ed and Ellen enjoyed their Up North cabin near Topinabee, MI, having many outdoor fish fries with visiting family and friends. Ellen liked gardening, cooking, baking, reading, hummingbirds, rabbits, playing cards, traveling, jokes and visitors.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating. An interment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery on Monday at 2:15 PM.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
A big thank you to Arbor North for all your "programs", activities, and live music with Ellen often requesting The Tennessee Waltz. Also, thank you for all the Elara Caring services provided to her.
