Frounfelker (Young), Ellen Louise

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully at Summit Park Assisted Living on Monday July 15, 2024.  She was born on July 13, 1927 in Jackson MI to her parents Orin E and Alice Young.  Ellen is survived by her two children Robert (Cathy) Frounfelker,  Jr. and James (Jeanie) Frounfelker; son-in-law James Kalahar.  She was a beloved and devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren, Andrew, Maggie, Jeff, Jacob, Molly, Jenna;  five great grandchildren, Niya, Eli, Natalie, Luke, Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews .  A special appreciation to her nephew Michael (Kim) Wilson for their faithful  visits.  She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E., two infant children Mary Jo and Daniel and her daughter Sue (Frounfelker) Kalahar.

Ellen was a lifelong resident of Jackson and was expert at sewing and quilting and especially enjoyed making teddy bears and Santas for her family. She was a proud graduate from St Mary's High School class of 1946.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 20 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 1:30 PM with Father Tim Nelson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20 from 1:00 to 1:30 PM at the Church.

The family thanks the caregivers at Summit Park Assisted Living who made Ellen's last few years happy ones.
