SHORE, ELIZABETH (SCOTT)
She's the beautiful brown-eyed, auburn-haired girl next door that stole the heart of Henry (Hank) Shore, Jr., in 1953, while he was home on leave from the U.S. Navy. The following year they became newlyweds. On November 6, 2016, Liz passed away at home under the vigil of her family and her caregivers, Deanna and June.
Liz enjoyed reading, making family summer trips to her Aunt's and Uncle's cabin resort on Lake Huron in Oscoda and walking hand-in-hand with Hank on the jetties in Florida as they watched birds, dolphins and beautiful sunsets together. As a dog lover, she always treasured the many years of fun and comfort given to her by three Cairn Terriers and a very special Miniature Schnauzer.
During their 62 years of marriage, Liz shared with Hank the experiences of three daughters [Susan (Sue) of Jackson, Kathryn (Kathy) of Okemos and Lisa of Ann Arbor], six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Jackson High School in 1951 with the honor of class Salutatorian, began her secretarial career there and later chose to be a full-time mom to her three daughters.
The cute way she said "hel-loooo!" when answering the phone, saying "whee!" just for fun, writing Christmas gift lists in shorthand so that no family members could read them, making Friday macaroni & cheese and fish stick dinners during Lent, and being a role model of resilience to her family are just a few special ways in which she touched the lives of others. For that, we appreciate her, thank her and will always love her.
The family sincerely thanks All About You Care for supporting Liz's wishes to be at home receiving care and to be there as she made her journey to Heaven.
For all those who wish to say goodbye to Liz, she requested that you please do so in your own personal way.
Should you choose to make a charitable contribution in her memory, she expressed that she would appreciate if it is made to the Jackson Animal Shelter, the Cascades Humane Society or a favorite charity of your choice.
