Currier (Williams), Elinore Louise
Accomplished traveler, natty dresser, stringent Republican, and baked goods extraordinaire passed away on June 1, 2015. She was born the daughter of Pauline Storey and Jack Williams May 7, 1927.
After years of aspiring to marry a "Sailor," she finally did in 1947 to Robert F. Currier, whom she then tolerated marriage with for the next 49 years. She graduated valedictorian of her nursing class in 1964 from Jackson College. Due to raising four children that always kept her on her feet, she was constantly active, both in her home and in her community. She was an active member of Kiwanis Club and deeply committed to their literacy program at Cascade elementary school, a member of Alpha Delta Ro sorority since high school, and a member of the Woman's Club of Jackson.
Contrary to the belief of many she did not rule with an iron fist, but with a fly swatter she kept in the front seat of her car and a brush found in the top dresser drawer that silenced the house when opened, as if E.F. Hutton was speaking. Little was lost with her. Not only did she have eyes on the back of her, she had eyes everywhere. This can be seen when sons Robert and Donald, trying to emulate their father, were having an overtly good time in a bar in Florida, seemingly miles from home and their mothers' 'eyes.' When they were approached by a man who inquired, "are you by chance Elinore Currier's son?" Her love and relations were truly everywhere.
She was a lady in every way. Meticulously put together, kind and generous with an abundance of love and comfort that was always overflowing at the brim. Never a bad word to say about a soul, apart from the ruling class of the Democratic Party. She is joyously remembered and loved worldwide and will be deeply missed. Which is why it is often speculated how the apple could have fallen so far from the tree with all those she is survived by: sons Robert M. and Donald W. Currier, daughter Patricia L. Currier Hubert, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, siblings Bonnie (Tony) Krupa, Jack (Annette) Williams, and Larry (Mary) Williams.
She is preceded in death by husband Robert (Bob) and daughter Kathryn (Kathy), sisters June White and Janice Reiners.
Due to her rational fear of her children throwing her a completely irrationally themed party, St. Rita's is set to make everything exactly as she would have it, a tasteful affair.
According to her wishes Elinore has been cremated. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rita's church in Clark Lake, MI on Saturday June, 13 at 11:00 am with Fr. Tom Helfrich officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Thank you to everyone who was apart of her life and made it what it was: a celebration to be had.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the Kiwanis International, 1203 First St., Jackson, MI 49203 would be appreciated.
