On Saturday, June 12th 2021, Edward Louis Banek, of Pleasant Lake, loving husband and father of 3 children, passed away suddenly at home after battling a series of long illnesses. He was 82.

Ed was born on July 23rd 1938 in New York, New York to Vincent and Rose (Svrbecky) Banek. He retired from Exxon Mobil after 45 years. He served in the Army from 1961 to 1964. After retirement he worked part time for the U. S. Census Bureau. In 1967 he married Candace Ann Glogowski.

Ed was a Loyal member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish for over 20 years and was very active in organizing St Joseph's St Vincent de Paul pantry as well as distributing communion to the home bound. He was a Knights of Columbus Member, Council 9131, serving as council treasurer for a number of years. He was a big baseball fan and avid History and Detective buff. He was known for his quick mind and devotion to his family.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Vincent; his mother, Rose; and siblings, Vincent, John, and Rose Mary. He is survived by his wife, Candace; his 3 children, Vincent, Wendy, and John; his sister, Frances Hutak; and his many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 707 N. Waterloo Street, Jackson, at 10:30 AM with Father Chas Canoy officiating. Cremation will take place after the Mass.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to defray medical expenses would be greatly appreciated by the family.
