Earl Edward Palmer, age 100 of Jackson, MI passed away on December 24, 2021. He was born November 12, 1921 in Jackson to Edward Harvey Palmer and Evelyn Nesbitt (Holliday) Palmer, who preceded him in death. Earl graduated from Jackson High School class of 1940 and went on to attend Jackson Business University. Earl was drafted in 1942 to the United States Army. He proudly served his country in the Signal Corp in the South Pacific Attachment in WWII. After Japan's surrender, Earl watched the Dignitaries leave to sign the Peace Treaty in Japan from a docked boat.

Following his discharge from the Army, Earl returned home to join his father in the family business, Palmer and Son Sand and Gravel. He formed the partnership with his father in 1950 and he retired in 1992. Palmer and Son Sand and Gravel continued under the ownership of Earl's son, Phillip and with the help of his son, Mark, spanning 4 generations. Throughout the years, Palmer sand had gone into the construction of many well-known landmarks throughout Jackson, such as the Michigan Theater, Consumers Power Co., and Jackson High School.

Earl was an avid golfer, golfing well into his 90's. Throughout his life, Earl enjoyed music and played clarinet and saxophones with several bands and while he was in the service. Earl and Marge enjoyed square dancing and spending evenings out with close friends, which continued into their retirement years and winters spent in Florida. Earl loved to play card games, especially Euchre. He also was an outdoorsman and loved to camp, hunt and fish. Those who knew Earl best would say he always had a beautiful smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, and that he loved and was devoted to his "Margie" and their family, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren included.

Earl is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret "Marge" (Welch) Palmer; his children, Kathy (Andrew) Zeigler, Phillip (Mary Cosepalmer) Palmer, Edward (Stephanie) Palmer, and Mary (Keith) Bollheimer; grandchildren, Christine (Kelly Kendall) Palmer, Jeremy Zeigler, Mark Palmer, Nathan (Val) Zeigler, Julia (Brad) Zenz, Zachary (Jana) Zeigler, Alyse Bollheimer, and Haley Bollheimer; and great grandchildren, Mariah, Evelyn, Margaux, and Cedar.
