Duane Gene Bretes Sr.

Bretes, Duane G., Sr., age 71, of Jackson passed away at home on March 4, 2014 under the loving care of his family and hospice, after a brief battle with cancer. Duane was born on January 1, 1943, to the late Stanley and Ruth Bretes and also preceded in death by his stepmother Phyllis (PI) Bretes. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Martha; sons, Duane Jr., Keith (Amy) and Kenneth; stepdaughters Christie (Craig) Holtrop and Denise Fillingham; grandchildren Brandon, Spencer, BreAnna, Ashley, Tyler, Chad, Carly and Cody; and great grandson Lucas.

He was a United States Marine Veteran. Duane worked for the UPS for 32 years, servicing Leslie, and surrounding areas. He was well liked and respected among his customers and peers. Duane was an avid fisherman and gardener, and loved caring for his many animals, particularly his three cats Samuel, Bubba and Iggy. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial for family will be held at a later date.

Anyone wishing to pay their respects are asked to make a donation to the Jackson County Animal Shelter or the Cascades
Humane Society.
