age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5th 2016 at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary, two sons, Mike (Janet) and Pat (Diana), four daughters, Cathy (Dale) Rouwhorst, Peg (Dale) Lundberg, Teresa Janson, and Mary Sprague (Tim Mottes), 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and special family members Ned Huestis and Fred Janson. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett "Stubby", step-mother, Viola (Larder) and mother, Alice (Thomson).

Doug was born April 11, 1930 and was a graduate of Jackson High School, class of 1948. Doug, and his wife, Mary and their six children lived in Spring Arbor, Michigan. He was in the Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. He started working as an engineer at Sparton Electronics in 1952. Doug played golf, hunted and fished, coached his daughters in softball, played co-ed softball and volleyball with his family, was a volleyball referee and a past president of the athletic boosters for Western High School. In his later years, he was always seen doing crossword puzzles and word searches. Doug was a frequent customer at the Wooden Spoon Restaurant in Spring Arbor for over 30 years. After retiring from Sparton, he worked at Advance Turning, Casler Hardware and Burr Oak Golf Course.

According to his wishes Mr. Sprague has been cremated. A service celebrating his life will be held at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9th at 11:00 AM.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 10 to 11:00 AM.
