Dysert, Douglas Ronald "Dick"
Of Jackson, Michigan passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 at the age of 79 years. He was surrounded by family and loved ones at the time of death. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ima Jean and Ronald and his sister, Phyllis. He leaves behind his life partner and best friend, Lori; four children, Doug (Katie), Angie (Jeff), Shelly (Matt) and Mark (Rena); grandchildren, Lindsey, Brogan, Cameron, Hannah, Madeline, Mitchell, Nicholas, Jacob, Luke, and Liam; great grandchildren, Willow, Bear, and River; his dear sister, Connie; and Aunt Carm, Uncle Cletus and Aunt Freda.
Some might remember Dick playing basketball at East Jackson High School where he graduated. He proudly served in the Marine Corps right after high school. Dick and Mary Ann raised their four children and he maintained a kind friendship with Mary Ann throughout his life. He had a long career as a master carpenter, providing custom built homes through Jackson and the surrounding areas. Dick loved to teach and mentor others in the construction trade and made many good friends throughout his career. Dick enjoyed exercise and staying strong. He belonged to the YMCA and had many friends there. Quiet times, he enjoyed movies. His favorite movie was Cool Hand Luke.
Dick loved conversation and a hot cup of coffee. He always looked forward to family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. He kept in touch with his family everyday. Family was the most important thing in his life and he loved them immensely. Dick will be missed so very much.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Dick's Life will be held at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 12:00 Noon with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 12 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
In lieu of flowers, Dick would like you to help others by donating to the Salvation Army.
