On Friday, Feb, 26th 2021, Douglas Alan Caldwell lost his brave four year battle with cancer. A battle he fought while maintaining a full-time career at Consumer's Energy, being the best husband a wife could ask for, as well as an amazing father of four children, and grandfather to two grandchildren.
Doug's gentle and loving heart touched the lives of many; especially his large extended family and friends. He was an avid supporter of MSU, NASCAR and Golf. Above all was Doug's relentless commitment to his wife and family. A man of few words, Doug led by example, and that paired with his comforting and gentle presence will continue to impact all who had the pleasure of knowing him and the future generations of his extended reach.
He is survived by his parents, David & Shirley Caldwell; His wife Mary, his siblings Allison (David) Collins, and Jane Scoville; his children Christina (Matt) Kortering, Jamison (Sarah) Caldwell, Joe VanWagner, and Josh (Marcela) VanWagner, and two grandchildren Esther Kortering, and Julian VanWagner.
A Memorial of Doug's life will take place on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 1:00 PM with Father Timothy MacDonald as the Celebrant. The memorial service will be live streamed on Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church Facebook Page. The family will receive friends at the Church on Wednesday, from Noon to 1:00 PM.
