Wood, Dorothy Lee
of Jackson, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents Nelson and Myrtle, and her brother, Nelson Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Gerard "Jerry" Wood: and was a loving mother to her children: Michael (Lori), Terri (Thom) Collard, Debbie Romero and Stephanie Wood. She is also survived by her two brothers: John and Alfred Carney. Dorothy graduated from Providence Hospital Nursing School as a registered nurse and was a long time member of the Providence Alumni Association. Dorothy was an avid tennis and golf player, playing golf on the Turf Diggers League at the Cascades Golf Course for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden and walking their dog, Jake. Dorothy will forever be a hockey mom and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31, at 12:30 PM at the Desnoyer Funeral Home with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
