Hagen, (Pauwels) Dorothy Marie
It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Hagen announces her passing after a brief illness on Friday, November 28th 2015 at the age of 82. She was at home surrounded by her loving family with support from Allegiance Hospice.
She is the daughter of Madeline and Remi Pauwels and was born in Jackson Michigan on December 1, 1932. She is survived by her 5 children; Mary Jo Montague of Jackson, Julie May of Jackson, Jim (Julie) Hagen of Corpus Christi Texas, Jerry (Tina) Hagen of Jackson and Jackie (Ken) Fields of Dewitt Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grand- children; and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings; Sr. Remi Pauwels, Betty (Bob) White, Mary Jane (Bill) Tobin, Bill (Mary Lou) Pauwels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Madeline and Remi Pauwels; her brother, Royal; son-in-law, Terrance Montague; and her very special partner, Bud Slater.
Dorothy graduated from St. John's High School and worked for many years as a head teller at the City Bank in Jackson. She attended both Queens and St. Johns Church. She loved having fun, dancing, music, her soap operas and just being with people.
Dorothy's friends and family will always remember her spunky and fun spirit, her non-judgmental nature, her unconditional love for so many, her desire to stand up for and support those less fortunate and her life motto – "Don't Worry Be Happy". Wherever she went she made friends and her family meant everything to her.
The family would like give special thanks to the people who went above and beyond in the recent months following her diagnosis, neighbors who were so kinds and giving, family members who helped keep everything going and the many who called, sent cards or stopped by to brighten her day.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 3rd at 1:00 PM at Queen of the Miracoulous Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald as the celebrant. Interment at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Desnoyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Blackstone, on Wednesday, December 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm.
