McCave, Dorothy Irene

Of Springport, passed away at her daughter's home with the care of loving family and Elara Caring Hospice (By Your Side) at the age of 98 on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. She was born in Jackson, Michigan and also lived in Michigan Center and Fife Lake, Michigan. Dorothy is survived by two children, Thomas McCave and Patricia (Maynard) Hartke; six grandchildren, Peter (Heather), Todd, Brad, Scott (Shawna), Jessica Lawler and Emily (Scott) McCave; nine great grandchildren, Ian, Brayden, Preston, Emma, Pyrce, Ivan, Bennett, Brenna, and Landon; and brother, Charles Redmond. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Lloyd McCave; her parents, Gerald and Louise Redmond; and sister, Mary LaDow.

She had a great love of family, fond memories of camping, was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed gardening and flowers, loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, cards, games, and road trips, especially to the Soo Locks.

According to her wishes, Dorothy was cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Jackson District Library or since she loved to share her love of bird watching, put up a bird feeder.
