Lanphear (Mallory), Dorothy I.
Age 89, formerly of Parma, Michigan passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. Dorothy was born on July 17, 1930 in Jackson, Michigan to Alva E. and Anna M. Mallory. When Dorothy was a child, she traveled by train over most of the west and west coast as her father worked for the railroad. Dorothy graduated from Jackson High School in 1949 and then worked at various places until she met her love. Dorothy married Frederick E. Lanphear on January 31, 1953. Dorothy was a homemaker and cared for their six children. The family enjoyed camping, fishing and snowmobiling. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, growing a very large vegetable garden and then canning the harvest. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She was involved with her church choir. Dorothy is survived by her children, Larry, Tim (Kathleen), Cindi Byrd, Dennis, Rick (Cheryl) and Cecil, her 12 grandchildren and their spouses, and 7 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Preceding Dorothy is her husband, Frederick, her parents, son in-law Jesse Byrd, and her brother Alva E. Mallory Jr.
A private family service is being held on Friday, July 17, 2020, Dorothy's 90th birthday, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Road in Jackson with Pastor John Rathje officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at Dearing Cemetery on N. Dearing Rd., Parma, Michigan.
