Griffard, Dorothy Mary
age 91, passed into eternity Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Bethany Home in Jackson. Dorothy was born in Racine, WI, daughter of Leo and Caroline (Diem) Williams. She met and married William (Bill) F. Griffard in Denver, CO in 1945, and they were happily married for 57 years. Dorothy and Bill were very active members of Queen of the Miraculous Medal parish for over 50 years. Dorothy was a very devoted wife and mother who also taught catechism, tutored adults and children, and was a Eucharistic minister to the elderly and sick. She co-founded Birthline, a pregnancy counseling center in Jackson. Dorothy had the rare gift of making everyone she met feel loved.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Mary, Phil (Dianne), Pete (Phyllis), Michele, Carolann (Kevin) Burke, Bill (Karen), Mike (Aileen), 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Cathleen, four brothers, and three sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 10:30 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Private internment St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.
Instead of sending flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Bethany Home of Jackson or Birthline of Jackson.
