Mathein, Dora "Margie"
of Jackson, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the age of 87 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jim. Margie was born on April 12, 1922 in Brooklyn, Michigan and lived in the Jackson area her entire life. She is survived by three children, Tom (Marina) Mathein of Los Angeles, CA, Michael (Darlene) Mathein of Fairhope, AL and Patricia (Andy) Sperry of Granger, IN; six grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Katie and Ian Sperry, Doug Erholtz, Elisa Culliton, Warren and Jennifer Gafford; two sisters, Jacquelyn Taylor and Carol (Bob) Gifford; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Shirley Kelley. Margie was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Jackson Women's Club. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. Reverend Jeff Poll will be the celebrant.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday from 2–4 and 6–8 PM. A Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at Queens Church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
