Smith, Donald Raymond (Donnie Ray)

Of Jackson passed away at home on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 age 55 years. Donnie was born August 8, 1955 in Jackson, MI, the oldest son of Donald and Phyllis (Hughes) Smith who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his youngest brother Mark Smith. Donnie married Patricia Norris 1975 and she preceded him in death on July 16, 2006. Donnie Ray loved music. He received his first record player at the age of 2 years, and from that day forward he was "hooked". You could always find him surrounded by piles of record albums, music playing and him singing along. Donnie also loved to travel, but most of all he loved his family. Surviving are one daughter, Phyllis (Rich) Barker, two step-daughters, Brandy Ross-Hutton, and Kelly (Dean) Snyder; three grandchildren, Tiffany Horner, Jamie Horner, Alyssa Snyder and one great-grandchild; Carter Grzesek one brother Michael (Diana) Smith, and four sisters Cynthia (Michael) Munro, Melanie Smith, Nicole (Josh) Crites and Mary; His stepmother, Ethel Mae Smith and several nieces and nephews. According to his wishes Donald has been cremated.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, April 30 from 1-4 pm at Apostolic Tabernacle 526 Fairyland Ave. Jackson, MI. Services will be presided by Reverend Ronald Lammon.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to his daughter Phyllis Barker to help defray costs.
