Passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday evening, 14 September 2025 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, Michigan. He is the last surviving member of Victor and Virginia Schweda. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Carole Ann and Phylis Jean.

Donald was surrounded by his cousins, Gary Lee Schweda and Fr. Phillip Schweda, JCL, and his life-long friend Terry Orban. All can attest to Don's bravery at the end of his decades long battle with kidney failure.

Don will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, his employer, his country and the Detroit Lions. After graduating from Michigan Center High School in 1963. Don served in the National Guard. He then worked for Goodyear Distribution Center for 27 years, where he was awarded upon his retirement for perfect attendance. Don was in constant contact with his beloved sister, Carole, and cared for his mother, Virginia, in her senior years. Donald has cousins, Thomas Aurthur Biela, Jeanette Marie Ward, Marilyn Louise Willoughby, Suzanne Courtis, and Judith Rowley and Aunt Irene Disenroth.

Don loved the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and later built a cabin there on Raber Bay, where he watched the various freighters going in front of his cabin on the St. Mary River. He also fell in love with Phoenix, Arizona, where he spent most of his retirement years. During his years in Arizona, he would receive his sister, Carole and her husband, Bruce Coryell. For the last two dozen years of his life, he would spend time in Upper Michigan and Phoenix, Arizona.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Kindly keep the soul of Don in your prayers.  There will be Mass cards available at the Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. Joseph Chapel in Jackson.  Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
