DONALD BOYD PETERSON, SR.

Passed away on September 5, 2015, and went home to be with his heavenly Father. Don was born on December 13, 1927 in Armstrong, Iowa to Carl and Opal Peterson. He was the eldest of three sons, Clifford and Robert. On August 3rd, 1950 he married Lola Anna Peterson. Don and Lola gave birth to 5 children, four boys and one girl.

He was a navy veteran. Don graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology with a mechanical engineering degree. His entire professional career was in foundries and foundry management for automotive suppliers. He was an active member and served as the first President of the Foundrymen's Association of Michigan, received the Chairman's Award from the American Foundry Society, Central Michigan Chapter, an active member of Jackson Council on Aging, Jackson County GOP, and Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lola Peterson and son Daniel Peterson. He is survived by his brother Clifford, Carmichael, CA and Robert, Hudson, WI; his children Donald (Connie) Peterson, Jr. Spring, TX; Kathryn (Laney) Vanderford, Fountain Inn, SC; David (Sally) Peterson, Farwell/Battle Creek, MI; Dane (Jennifer) Peterson, Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren Stephen Peterson, Arlington, TX; Paula Peterson, Breckenridge, MI; Joseph Peterson, M.D., Fort Lauderdale, FL; Stuart Sanchez, Friendwood, TX; Daniel Peterson, Albuquerque, NM; Dane Peterson, Jr. Atlanta, GA and Anna Kate Peterson, Atlanta, GA; four great grandchildren; Joshua Peterson, Jayden Peterson, Shayne Sanchez, and Jordan Peterson.

Don had a great enthusiasm for life and his family. He believed that the actions of one person could make a difference in this world and he worked very hard to prove it. His persistence and dedication to his beliefs will always be remembered. He was always there for anyone who needed help and never asked anything in return. He was truly one of a kind person who always sought to work for the good of others. He taught his children the meaning of hard work and dedication through his everyday actions. His belief in GOD was apparent to everyone who knew Don. Don will be missed by his family, friends and anyone who knew him.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 10:30 am with Fr. John Whitlock as the celebrant. A visitation at Queens is also available from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to Jackson County Sheriff Department, Right To Life of Michigan or Wounded Warriors.
