With his wife of 57 years Suzanne by his side, Donald E. Arvidson went to be with the Lord March 7, 2015. Donald, born in 1923, was raised in Jackson, Michigan
Don, a Jackson High graduate, went on to get his Engineering Degree from Michigan State University and then worked for General Electric until he retired in 1985. Don was an active member of the Jackson Breakfast Rotary Club and served as Past President for several years. He was also a member of Queen's Catholic Church. Don loved his pets and golf. Don proudly served with the U.S. Army's 96th Infantry Division during World War II, seeing active duty in the South Pacific until being wounded in Okinawa and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Besides his wife, Don is survived by Son Thomas (Linda) Arvidson of Bend, Oregon, Daughter Cynthia Arvidson of Cleveland, Ohio, and Step-Son Dale (Margaret) Kortze of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 11, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Father John Whitlock. Interment will follow at Roseland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM. The family will also receive friends at Queen's Church on Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Disabled American Veterans Association, or Wounded Warrior Project.
