On March 11, 2021 Delores (Janke) Bullinger passed away peacefully at the age of 96. It is not when her life began or ended, it is what she did between the dash (1924-2021) that matters!
Delores was the mother of five children, however many others in the Bowen St. neighborhood considered her "mom".
When Delores's children were young, the phrase "stay-at-home-mom" didn't exist. But even by the standards of the era, Delores was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help. And she always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy. This caring spirit continued with her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Delores never her lost her sense of humor; even in the end she was still making us laugh. Her memory was impeccable, and her stories have provided many insights into her life. To be around Delores you could not overlook her warm and good-natured personality; it would not be uncommon to hear her say "I just go with the flow".
Delores is survived by her five children: Mary Ellen (Allen) Theis, Mark Bullinger, Ruth (Mark) Deilus, Kathleen (Gary) Huyge, Andrew (Laurie) Bullinger, as well as her brother Dick and many nieces and nephews.
She also is deeply loved by 8 grandchildren: Allie (Mark) Richardson, Emily (Adam Klenk) Bullinger, Katelyn Theis (John Edwards), Megan (Jason) Klein, Alex (Samantha) Huyge, Sean Deilus, Adam Perolio and Kelsey (Ryan) Schonhard and five great-grandchildren (Brecken, Ava, Quinn, Logan and Rowan) with two new arrivals due this year.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter, her brother Fred, and her sister Betty.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Jackson on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 11:00 am with Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Mark's house, 2840 Wood Dale Ct. Jackson and on from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice or Multiple Sclerosis Association of Michigan 29777 Telegraph Rd. Suite 1651 Southfield MI 48034 (www.nationalmssociety.org)
