Sauceda, David Sr.
Passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at age 72. He died peacefully in his home with family by his side.
He was born on May 27, 1943, to Antonio and Benita Sauceda, who raised him with his brothers (Manuel, Lalo, Luis, and Tony Jr.) in Jackson, Michigan. After graduating from Jackson High School, David joined the United States Army in February of 1965 and enlisted with the Michigan Army National Guard in 1978. During his 26 years of service, David earned numerous decorations, including an Army Commendation Medal and two Kuwait Liberation Medals. He retired from the military in 1999. As a civilian, he worked for Consumers Energy, retiring in 2003. In early retirement, he continued a life of service by assisting the elderly. Later, he became a faithful, doting Grandfather and could regularly be seen escorting his grandchildren to and from parks, school and other activities - by foot, car and Radio Flyer wagon. He finished his life as an active member of the Sacred Heart community at St. Stanislaus parish, a kind volunteer at St. Mary Star of the Sea School, a loyal Spartan fan (season ticket holder for over 25 years), a beloved father, and loving grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Maria Luisa, his children Christyle (Walt), David Jr., Juan (Heather), Jesse (Lesly), and Ana (Victor), as well as his seven grandchildren, Jesse Jr., Denton, Emily, Alex, Bryan, Andrei, and Victor Jr.
