A life-long resident of Jackson, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday October 23, 2010 at the age of 77, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by the love of his life, Shirley, his wife of 54 years; 5 children, David (Jeanne), Julie, Timothy, Susan (Ron Brown), and Brian (Rebekah); 6 grandchildren, Ron, Melanie, April, Katelyn, Sierra, and Sarah; 2 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, and Ryleigh; as well as his brother-in-law Alfred Vogt, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Agatha Kurzynowski, and his sister Delores Vogt. He was born on September 24, 1933. He began dating Shirley A. Whiting on 7/28/53 and they were wed on April 28, 1956. David graduated from St. John's High School, class of 1952. Providing for his family was his main priority in life. He worked at Kroger, and Dutch Klee's prior to serving a 2-year stint in the US Army. He returned to work at Dutch Klee's before beginning a career at 7up as a self-employed distributor. In 1966 he became a senior distributor when he founded Kurzynowski Distributing. In 1981 he began a new endeavor, Merchandising Display, Inc., and later added a family-run video distribution company, Shows Too Go. An avid Michigan sports fan, he was often found cheering for the Tigers, Pistons, and Lions. Intrigued by numbers, he also enjoyed gaming in his spare time.

The family will receive friends at the at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Rosary Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.

Mr. Kurzynowski is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a brief Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Reverend Robert Pienta will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. John's Church Building Fund. Special thanks to the staff at Allegiance Health Hospice who took such loving care of him in his final months.
