HOBDE, DAVID DANIEL - Died unexpectedly, February 6, 2010 at the University of MIchigan Hospital, age 81. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Constance D. (McGill) Hobde; beloved daughter, Heidi; son-in-law, Michael; and grandsons, Patrick and Connor Dailey of Chelsea, MI; sister-in-law, Shirley Hobde; nephew, Brett (Janis) Hobde; niece, Jill (Debi Lindsey) Hobde; brother-in-law, John (Sandra) McGill; sister-in-law, Ruth McGill; beloved nieces and nephews, Tom (Kathy) McGill, Joanne (Terry) Corcoran, Janet McGill, Sharon McGill, Beth (Max) Rizer, Jeannene McGill, Diana (Mike) Beck, Suzanne (Pete) Caldwell, Patricia (Kurt) Kulpa, John (Becci) McGill II. He is also survived by many, many special great and great-great-nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Myrtle Hobde; brother, Dennis L. Hobde; in-laws, David and Pearl McGill; and brothers-in-law, Thomas, Donald (Dorothy), and Gerald McGill. He graduated from Dubuque (Iowa) High School, University of Dubuque, and Iowa State College School of Architecture. He was President of Delta Chi and a member of Tau Sigma Delta, Honorary Fraternity in Architecture and Allied Arts. He was a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He was formerly employed at Commonwealth Associates, was a partner in the firm of Hansen and Hobde Architects, and retired from Consumers Power Company. He was a 55 year member of First United Methodist Church where he served on several church renovation committees. He was a member of American Institute of Architects, the Construction Specifications Institute (Member Emeritus), the Sign Building Board of Appeals, served 30 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals many years as Chairman, and served 40 years on the Building Board of Appeals. He was also a member of the Jackson Facade Review Committee and the Clarklake Beach and Boat Club. Following his wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Michigan Anatomical Donations Program. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church (FUMC), 275 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI, 49201 on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 12 p.m. with visitation at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations may be made to FUMC or a worthy charity of your choice. www.Mlive.com/obits
