David Glenn Gier, Sr.
Of Jackson, MI passed away June 12, 2026 at home at the age of 93 years, surrounded by family.
David is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice Gier (Kefuss); his children David, Jr (Marla) Gier, Melissa (Bruce) Loring, and Jeff (Dawn) Gier; Brother Robert (Ann) Gier; 5 grand children, 7 great grand children; many nieces nephews and cousins; and life long friend Dick Kelsow. David was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Marie Gier; In Laws Lawrence and Helen Kefuss; brothers Everett (Barbara) Gier and Roger Gier; and Grand Daughter Bailey Gier. David was born October 10, 1932, at home, in Jackson, MI. He attended East Jackson Schools and graduated in 1952. He was in the Naval Reserves and then served in the Navy from 1950-1958. David retired from Kelsey Hayes after 43 years of employment. After retirement, he continued working many odd jobs, his favorite was at St. Joe’s Day Care. David was and avid wood carver and was a member of South Central Wood Carver Club. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus. David enjoyed fishing and playing euchre and cribbage with his dad, brothers and family. David always enjoyed the adventures and projects he did with his son Jeff.
Mr. Gier is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 9:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Fr. Timothy Nelson will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice would be appreciated.
