VanDam, Daniel Joseph
Born on the 4th of July in the year 1956, died August 3rd, 2024 at the age of 68 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia and Edward Sr.; brother, Eric; and sister, Sheila. Dan was a brother to Harold (Linda), Terrence (Stacey), Joseph (Nancy), Edward (Kathleen), Kristin (Joseph), and William; loving nieces/nephews, friends, and his dog Bo.
After graduating from Jackson High School in 1974, he became a member of The International Laborers Union and later in life joined the Operating Engineers Union.
A lifelong resident of Jackson with a few years hiatus in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dan enjoyed gardening and landscaping his childhood home. He also enjoyed all weather sports, including Dunigan Brother's sponsored snowmobiling drag racing. He built a long standing community of friendship through this hobby and love of Midwest Snowmobile Drag Racing (MSDRA).
Daniel was a cancer patient for the past three years and succumbed to his disease at Henry Ford Hospice. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff at Henry Ford Hospice.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Daniel's life will take place at Desnoyer Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Father Robert Pienta officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 10 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cascades Humane Society or Henry Ford Hospice of Jackson.
