TOMSHACK, (McDERMOTT) CLARE
Of Jackson passed away at home under the loving care of her family Thursday, December 24, 2009 age 89 years. She was born July 10, 1920 in Jackson to Richard and Frances (Howland) McDermott. Clare was a lifelong resident of Jackson. She graduated from St. John's High School in 1938. In August of 1940 she married Joseph Tomshack of Ann Arbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years Joseph, son Jack, grandson Michael Carr, brother William McDermott and son in law Mark Tulchinsky. She is survived by six children; Nan Tulchinsky and Bill (Margaret) Tomshack of South Bend, Indiana, Mary Frances (James) Carr of Rogers City, Winnie Tomshack of Jackson, James (Geri) Tomshack of Portage and Maureen Tomshack of Fuquay Varina, NC. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She was co-owner of Tomshack Chenilling and Embroidery. Clare was a parishioner of Queen's Parish and was the president of her guild. It must be said that Clare loved and served her God. She truly tried to be an example of that commitment every moment of her life. She is going home for Christmas. The family would like to thank Great Lakes Hospice and especially Emma Sanchez for the loving care they provided to our mother. Mrs. Tomshack is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 12:30 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 1:00 PM. Interment St. John's Cemetery. The Rev. James Shaver officiating.
