Appel, Clare H.
Of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Marguerite Appel; five children: Janis Appel of Olympia, Washington, John (Susan) Appel of Bend, Oregon, Margaret (Michael) DeVries of Metamora, Michigan, Walter Appel of Lewiston, California, and Mark (Christy) Appel of Springport, Michigan; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Clare retired from Consumers Power after 32 years of service. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of WWII, an active member of Queen's Church, and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. In the 1980's, Clare was the Mayor of Parma, Michigan.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 28 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Father Tim MacDonald officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 5:30 PM.
The family suggests that, instead of sending flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Great Lakes Hospice or Queen's Church.
