Reardon, Christopher Michael
Age 31, died unexpectedly after a brief illness on January 16, 2026, in Santa Monica, California. Chris was born on July 20, 1994, in Jackson, Michigan. He graduated with honors from Lumen Christi High School in Jackson in 2012. He went on to graduate summa cum laude from Baker College, earning a degree in secondary education. After college, he relocated to California, where he taught English and social studies online to students all over the world.
Christopher excelled in all he pursued. He was a proud member of the Lumen Christi varsity tennis team, reaching the state finals all four years. He also played flute, saxophone and piccolo in the Lumen Christi Band. He was adventurous, traveling by himself to Europe, Hawaii, Mount Rushmore and even the pyramids in Egypt. He loved Disney and Universal Studios, taking trips two or three times a year to visit the parks with his parents. The last trip was in August 2025.
Chris was a talented writer. He wrote a novel called "Obstacles" and three novellas while in high school and college and succeeded in getting the fantasy stories published.
Chris is survived by his parents Kathy Schmaltz (Reardon) and Patrick Reardon; aunts and uncles Tom Schmaltz, Mary Sue Schmaltz (Joachim Karger), Jim Schmaltz, Peggy Schmaltz, Anita Schmaltz, Paul (Shannon) Schmaltz, Julie (Kent) Klepper, Mike (Lori) Reardon, and Danny (Cathy) Reardon; cousins Joey Schmaltz, Jack Schmaltz, Nick Schmaltz, Natalie Orsi, Jennifer Ryan (Dan), Abi Reardon, Brett Reardon, Karen Reardon and Aiden Reardon; and grandmother Donna Gardner. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents Donald and Gwendolyn Schmaltz and Wilford Reardon; aunt Joanne Schmaltz; cousin Ryan Reardon; and his precious dog Biddo.
Chris brought light and love to everyone. He was always smiling. He will be remembered for so many reasons, but most of all for his kindness.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Jackson, with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating.
