His parents moved the family to Grass Lake in 1946. He graduated from Grass Lake High School in 1951. Chuck was very proud of his early working years on the farm and as a pickup and delivery milkman. He worked many years in the lumber business. This began at Grass Lake Lumber, then on to Paw Paw and lastly at Fingerle Lumber in Ann Arbor. Then he found his true career and passion in the concrete industry. He started at Willbee Concrete and retired from Builders Ready Mix in Lansing. Upon retirement, he and Marian moved to Johannesburg on Douglas Lake, where they loved to have the family join them. They enjoyed years of travel, but continued to return to St. John, USVI for many years. BUT the place they truly wanted to be was at the lake up north with family and friends.
