Sauter, Charles Joseph

Age 95, died on September 11, 2023. He was born on February 3, 1928 in Adrian MI, the youngest of 12 children to Adelaide and Frederick Sauter.

Chuck served in the Navy from 1946-1948 and then went on to Michigan State where he earned a degree in Business. He started working at Aeroquip where he met his wife, Barbara O'Meara. They were married May 15, 1954 and went on to have 8 children. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Marie Sauter, his son, John Charles Sauter, and his grandson Jeremy David Charles Sauter.

Chuck's career included working for 31 years at Consumer's Energy.  From Little League to St. Vincent DePaul, Chuck found many different ways to volunteer his services.

You could always find Chuck enjoying a round of golf with friends and family, even up to the age of 94.

He is survived by his wife, Barb, of 69 years, his children James (Theresa) Sauter, Julie (Joe) Haines, Mary Jo (Ken) Deering, Steve (Sue) Sauter, Mike (Diane) Sauter, Sarah (Tim) Kwaske, 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and soon to be 24, and sister in law Lorraine Varner.

Cremation has taken place.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Chas Canoy and Deacon Mike McCormick officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.  If you would like, come dressed as if you are joining Chuck for a round of 18 holes. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Jackson Catholic Schools.
