Bacon, Charles "Chuck" Richard
died on Saturday, December 31, 2011, after a brief illness. He was born May 24, 1917 in Jackson, MI to Morton John and Rose Elizabeth Bacon (Hoffman) he lived in Jackson his whole life. Chuck lived on Adrian Street as a child with his widowed Mother and two brothers Morton and Joseph. Memories as a boy were working at one of the first filling stations and movie theaters in Jackson to help support the family after the death of his beloved oldest brother Joseph in a tragic plane crash.

Chuck graduated from St. Mary's in Jackson and after high school got a job at Michigan Bell Telephone as a Toll Test Technician where he continued to work for 48 years. He married Mary Virginia Bacon (Clark) before he was shipped overseas to the Philippines in 1945. They were happily married for 62 years.

His job at Bell altered his life forever in many ways. He was drafted into the Army during WWII. After basic training, he was assigned to be sent to what is now known as the Battle of the Bulge in the European Campaign in the Infantry. While preparing to ship out, he was abruptly summoned to the commanding officer. He was briefly quizzed on his typing and wiring knowledge. He was reassigned to the Signal Corp. and sent instead to the Philippines to serve out the war.

Chuck and Virginia (deceased June 11, 2008) were happily married for 62 years. They were extremely devoted parents whose whole adult lives were dedicated to their six children who all grew up on Linden Street. Through hardship, Chuck was a survivor and always adapted to what came his way. He was a thoughtful, kind, gentle and caring man who always put other's needs ahead of his own. He truly lived a wonderful life.

Chuck's heart, soul and spirit live on in his family who all loved him dearly:
