Layher, Charles E.
of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the age of 84 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jane Marie Layher. He is survived by seven children, Charles Peter (Beth) Layher, Ann (Steve) Cady, Bruce (Barb) Layher, Theresa (John) Furnas, Jenny (Bill) Blakley, David (Marsha) Layher, Tom (Jennifer) Layher; 18 grandchildren, Jacob Layher, Aimee (Jason) Bertone, Tim Cady, Josh Cady, Jason (Kelli) Layher, Michelle (Guerry) Barbee, Whytlie Layher, Derrick Frinkle, Ryan Furnas, Jodie (Travis) Spink, Dusty O'Dell, Brian Blakley (and fiancee Aki Hatano), Lynn (John) Swartz, Katie Blakley (and fiancee Chris Cho), Matthew Layher, Luke Layher, Michael Layher, Xavier Layher; 13 great grandchildren. Charles was an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and retired from the Jackson Post Office. Charles is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 AM followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Reverend Jeffrey Robideau will be the celebrant. A private interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2–4 and 6–8 PM. A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Fatima Building Fund or Allegiance Hospice.
