Gross, Charles Frederick "Fred"
Passed away under the loving care of his family on Sunday, September 2, 2018. He was preceded in death by parents Charles Gross and Edith DeWeese and mother in-law Mary Finkell. He is survived by wife Janice, sister Charlene (Pat) McGinnis, son Jeffery, daughters Julie (Brad) Clauda, Cari (Brian) Hurt and Jennifer Barnett, 5 grandchildren: Morgan and Raegan Niedbala, Kailey and Zachery Hurt, and Felix Dillon, several nieces, nephews and cousins, Father in-law Lloyd Finkell and faithful companion Sydney. Fred was born in Flint, MI. March 1, 1942, he graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1960, where he ran for their cross country team. He attended Flint Junior College and was a leading member of their National Championship Cross Country team in 1961. He and his team mates were all inducted into the Greater Flint Area Hall of Fame in 2016 in honor of that accomplishment. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from MSU in 1965 and joined Consumers Energy's Accounting Department. He served in several Management assignments there until retiring after 38 years of service. Fred enjoyed the outdoors, annual fishing trips, monthly poker games, weekly golf and travel throughout the world. He served on the CP Federal Credit Union Board. Special thanks to Bill and Nancy Gross who spent so much time staying with Fred and helping and providing comfort and care; his many friends; as well as the special nurses/Docs at Henry Ford Allegiance and UM Oncology.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Fred's life will be held at the Cornerstone Apostolic Church, 1801 Cortland Blvd. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Aaron Strouss officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
